Poonam Sinha, Shatrughan Sinha’s wife, likely to fight LS polls on a SP-BSP ticket from Lucknow

Lucknow: Poonam Sinha, wife of actor-turned –politician Shatrughan Sinha joined Samajwadi Party[SP] here on Tuesday in the presence of Dimple Yadav, wife of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

However, her husband Shatrughan Sinha has already joined Congress Party on April 6, and will contest 2019 Lok Sabha election from Bihar’s Patna Sahib on a Congress Party ticket against Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Prior to joining the Congress Party, Shatrughan Sinha was with BJP.

As per reports, Poonam Sinha may take on Union Minsiter Rajnath Singh from Lucknow seat on a SP ticket with the support of BSP.

On being asked about her fighting Lok Sabha election against Rajnath Singh, She denied to reply direct questions.

According to reports, Poonam Sinha may file her nomination on April 18.

As far as Congress Party is concerned, it has not declared any candidate yet which means it is a one-to-one fight between Rajnath Singh and Poonam Sinha.

Rajnath Singh won the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Lucknow seat garnering 55.7 per cent of the total votes 10,06,483 votes polled. He had won in all the five assembly segments of the constituency.

Lucknow goes to polls in the fifth phase and votes will be cast on May 6.
