PM Modi praises greater use of regional languages โ€‹โ€‹in Parliament

New Delhi, December 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and MPs from all parties for highlighting India’s cultural and linguistic diversity through the increasing use of regional languages โ€‹โ€‹in Parliament.

Prime Minister described this as a symbol of India’s rich heritage and described it as extremely pleasing.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi said, “It is heartening to see this. India’s cultural and linguistic diversity is our pride. Congratulations to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla ji and MPs from all parties for highlighting this vibrancy on the floor of Parliament.”

Responding to the Prime Minister’s remarks, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister on ‘X’. He said that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, India’s cultural and linguistic diversity has received continuous encouragement. As a result of this inspiration, today the Indian Parliament has been able to simultaneously translate legislative proceedings into all 22 languages โ€‹โ€‹included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

Birla expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting regional languages, saying this has made democracy more inclusive and empowered.
