Noida, February 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually laid the foundation stone for North India’s first semiconductor unit in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority ( YEIDA) area of โ€‹โ€‹Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, and several Uttar Pradesh ministers, MLAs, and MPs were present at the event.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Modi said that today India is working very fast towards its goal of development and I have also said from the Red Fort that India does not have time to stop or pause. He said that on January 12, millions of youth from the country joined the Vikas Bharat Young Leader Mission. Following this, National Startup Day was celebrated on January 16.

At this summit, the world witnessed India’s AI capabilities, understood our vision, and appreciated them.

The Prime Minister stated that India is now striving to become one of the top countries in the world in terms of the processing power needed to run the modern world.

He stated that India is working simultaneously on both software and hardware aspects. It is a matter of pride for all of us that Uttar Pradesh is poised to become a major hub for India’s semiconductor ecosystem. This unit will provide employment opportunities for a large number of youth in Uttar Pradesh and the country.

He stated that wherever a semiconductor unit is established, designs, research centers, and a startup ecosystem are born.

He congratulated Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his entire team. He stated that what India is doing in the field of technology in this decade will form the foundation of our strength in the 21st century.

He noted that India’s development of a strong semiconductor is an example of this. The Prime Minister said that India may have started its journey in the semiconductor sector late, but today we are progressing at a very fast pace.

He said that in the 20th century, countries that had oil were prosperous and capable. In the 21st century, even small chips have this same potential. He said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw how vulnerable the supply chain for even small chips was. During that time, the disruption in chip supplies caused factories across the world to shut down. India learned from that crisis and began trying to turn it into an opportunity.

Prime Minister Modi said that we have decided to make India self-reliant in chip manufacturing. He said that when India’s chips are “Make in India,” we will no longer have to look to others for the manufacturing of modern equipment. When we have our own chips, India’s momentum will continue uninterrupted in every sector. He added that India is taking major steps to manufacture semiconductors and batteries.

At the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that Uttar Pradesh is rapidly developing due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s multifaceted vision. He added that during the previous governments’ tenure, there were gunfire incidents, kidnappings, and lawlessness. Fear was so prevalent that people avoided leaving their homes after sunset. Today, the Jewar region is emerging as the jewel of not only Uttar Pradesh but also India.

Yogi said that the establishment of the state’s first semiconductor unit here will give the region a new identity. Thanks to everyone’s positive efforts, the region is establishing itself as a major manufacturing hub not only for mobile phones but also for electronic components. Yogi stated that Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a leading state in the country.
