PM Modi kicks off Tamil Nadu Assembly polls campaign from Madurantakam

Chengalpattu, January 23: The Political activities have intensified in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming Assembly elections. The phase of rallies and public meetings has begun. In this sequence, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the election campaign of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) from Madurantakam in Chengalpattu district. The Prime Minister is addressing the NDA election rally held here.

While addressing the rally, Prime Minister Modi said that in the last 11 years, the NDA government at the Centre has done unprecedented work for the development of Tamil Nadu.

He said, “Before 2014, when the Congress-DMK coalition government was in power in Delhi, very little funds were allocated for the development of Tamil Nadu. In the last 11 years, the NDA government at the Centre has provided approximately โ‚น3 lakh crore to Tamil Nadu through direct transfers alone, which is almost three times the amount provided during the Congress-DMK government.”

The Prime Minister stated that the Central Government has consistently provided financial assistance for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu. He alleged that during the Congress-DMK regime, only scams took place in the name of the poor, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and backward classes, while the NDA government has prioritized development.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, from Kerala. He was scheduled to arrive at the Chennai airport at 2:15 pm, but due to technical reasons, he arrived at the Chennai airport at around 2:40 pm.

The Prime Minister received a grand welcome at the Chennai airport. Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and state government ministers Tha. Mohammed were present on the occasion. Anbarasan, senior BJP and AIADMK leaders, Chief Secretary Muruganandam, and Director General of Police (DGP) Venkataraman were present.

From the airport, Prime Minister Modi departed for Madurantakam in a special helicopter. He was warmly welcomed by AIADMK and BJP leaders at the helicopter landing point in Madurantakam. Among those welcoming him were AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Deputy General Secretary K.P. Munusamy, Natham Viswanathan, Treasurer Dindigul Srinivasan, senior leader S.P. Velumani, former minister Thangamani, and leaders from other NDA allies.

Through this public meeting, Prime Minister Modi is highlighting the central government’s achievements, development plans, and the NDA’s strategy for the upcoming assembly elections. Tight security arrangements have been made throughout the area for the public meeting, and a large number of party workers and supporters are expected to be present.
