New Delhi, June 06: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the world’s highest railway bridge built on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir. The PM Modi also inaugurated the Anji Bridge. Along with this, the Prime Minister also flagged off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Katra and Srinagar from Katra Railway Station.
Before the inauguration, the Prime Minister interacted with the team associated with the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were present on this occasion. The Prime Minister also interacted with the project team and workers at Kanthan Chenab Halt. He inquired about the progress of this project.
Chenab and Anji Rail Bridge, a marvel of architecture located at a height of 359 meters from the river bed, the Chenab Rail Bridge is the world’s highest railway arch bridge . It is a 1,315-metre long steel arch bridge designed to withstand all seismic and wind conditions. One of the major impacts of this bridge is to enhance connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar. The Vande Bharat train running on this bridge will take just 3 hours to travel between Katra and Srinagar, reducing the current travel time by 2-3 hours. The Anji Bridge is India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge.
Vande Bharat Express The Prime Minister also flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains from Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar and back. These trains will provide a fast, comfortable and reliable travel option for residents, tourists, pilgrims and others.

Before flagging off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Katra and Srinagar from Katra Railway Station, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with school children travelling in the train.
