Lucknow, March 10: A delegation from Noida International Airport met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday and presented the Aerodrome License issued by the Government of India.

This marks an important step towards the operationalization of the Noida International Airport at Jewar. With this license, the process for the airport’s inauguration and the commencement of commercial flights will move forward.

During the meeting, the delegation, including Airport Chief Executive Officer Christoph Schnellmann, briefed the Chief Minister on the project’s progress and upcoming steps.

According to officials, after receiving the Aerodrome License, the final process of regulatory approvals is underway. The airport’s Aerodrome Security Program is currently pending review with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Upon receiving this security clearance, the airport management will coordinate with all relevant agencies to determine the date for the formal inauguration and commercial operations.

The Noida International Airport, being developed in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, is a significant greenfield airport connecting the National Capital Region and Western Uttar Pradesh to major cities across the country and the world. The airport is being developed with world-class facilities that combine Swiss efficiency and Indian hospitality. The airport’s Chief Executive Officer is Christoph Schnellmann.

The airport is being developed in four phases. The first phase includes a runway and a passenger terminal building with a capacity of approximately 12 million passengers per year. The second phase will increase capacity to 30 million passengers. The target is to reach 70 million passengers after expansion in the third and fourth phases.

The terminal building in the first phase covers an area of approximately 1.38 lakh square meters, with 48 check-in counters, nine security lanes, and nine immigration counters. Domestic and international lounges are also being developed for passenger convenience. In addition, 10 aerobridges and 28 aircraft parking stands have been provided. The runway has been developed to handle approximately 30 flights per hour. A modern cargo and logistics hub is also being developed on the airport campus. Initially, the capacity will be approximately 250,000 tons of cargo per year, which will be expanded to 1.5 million tons over time.

From a technological perspective, this airport will also be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Systems such as the DigiYatra-based biometric system, self-baggage drop, and a digital passenger processing system are being implemented to provide passengers with a fast and seamless travel experience. Keeping sustainable development in mind, the airport is being developed with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions. Facilities such as solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and electric vehicle charging are also being developed on the campus.

Experts believe that the opening of Noida International Airport will reduce air traffic pressure in Delhi-NCR and create new investment, tourism, and employment opportunities in western Uttar Pradesh.
