Gorakhpur, 16 September: Animal smugglers killed 19-year-old student preparing for NEET on Monday night in Pipraich police station area of โโGorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The atmosphere of the area turned tense when the angry mob caught one of the smugglers, beat him, burnt his vehicle and pelted stones at the police. Police and district administration officials reached the spot and handled the situation.
Meanwhile, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the incident.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raj Karan Nayyar told reporters on Tuesday that animal smugglers had come in two vehicles to a village in Pipraich police station area around 3 o’clock on Monday night. When the villagers chased them, one of their vehicles got stuck in the mud. The smugglers started running away in the other vehicle. During this time, Deepak Gupta (19), a student preparing for NEET, started following them. On this, the smugglers took him with them and pushed him out of the moving pickup vehicle after taking him some distance. He died due to head injury after falling on the ground. Some people said that he died due to bullet injury. On investigation and my own inspection, there is no evidence of fire arm injury in the body.
SSP further told that the body of the student has been sent for post-mortem, action will be taken on the basis of whatever report comes. The family has been talked to in this matter and the complaint received from them has also been taken into cognizance. Five teams have been deployed to investigate this case. The animal smuggler who was caught by the villagers has been injured in the fight. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. When the villagers were beating the smuggler, a police personnel was injured by the stone thrown during that time, he has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The SSP said that on the basis of the information received so far in this case, action has been started by deploying five teams. The incident will be disclosed soon.
The District Magistrate (DM) Deepak Meena said that the incident of Pipraich is sad. Police is taking action in this case, it will be disclosed soon. The family members have been talked to and whatever their demand was, will be fulfilled. The administration will provide whatever help is needed at the local level. The first priority is to cremate the body after conducting a post-mortem.
On the matter of not cooperating with the police, the DM said that all the people have put forth their side and everyone has been heard. Catching the culprits is our first priority. After this, the family will be heard again and whatever action is to be taken will be taken.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of this matter and has given instructions to provide all possible help to the victim’s family. He has ordered the police officers to take strict action against the culprits.
