Modi govt grants Indian citizenship to Sikh refugees from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh: Amit Shah

Chandigarh, December 24: Home Minister Amit Shah has said that during his tenure, the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted Indian citizenship to Sikhs from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh living as refugees in India. Furthermore, after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, 116,000 people have been granted citizenship.

Amit Shah was addressing a state-level function organized in Panchkula on Wednesday night to commemorate Veer Bal Diwas.

On this occasion, the Home Minister released a coffee table book dedicated to the four Sahibzadas. He also released Vision 2047 prepared by the Haryana government. Amit Shah also distributed appointment letters to children from 121 riot-affected families of the 1984 Sikhs in government jobs.

Without naming any political party, the Home Minister said that Kartarpur Sahib was neglected during the partition of the country. The Modi government has provided devotees with the opportunity to visit the holy site by constructing the corridor to Kartarpur Sahib.

He said that when the four Sahibzadas are mentioned, the heart becomes emotional and the chest swells with pride.

He said that on January 9, 2022, Prime Minister Modi decided that December 26th will be celebrated every year as Veer Bal Diwas. For the past three years, competitions have been held in schools in every state, providing millions of children with the opportunity to hear the life stories of the four Sahibzadas.

Calling Sikhism a symbol of all religions, the Home Minister said that the Guru Granth Sahib is the only scripture that contains not only the teachings of the Gurus but also those of many great men.

Praising the Deputy Chief Minister’s decision to provide jobs to children from families affected by the 1984 riots, the Home Minister said that the Haryana government has attempted to heal the wounds of Sikhs. Furthermore, the Modi government has also reopened the cases of those accused in the Sikh riots and ensured their punishment.
