Lucknow, October 9: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, attacked the Samajwadi Party (SP), saying that when they are in power, they do not remember our saints, great men and PDA. When out of power, they start organizing seminars and programs praising their names.

The BSP chief addressed a large number of party workers in Lucknow on Thursday on the death anniversary of party founder Kanshi Ram. Before doing so, she offered flowers at Kanshi Ram’s feet and paid her respects to him.
The BSP chief said that people should be wary of the double standards of these socialists who announced a seminar on Kanshi Ram’s death anniversary. Today, the SP wants to organize a seminar on Kanshi Ram’s death anniversary. When they are in power, they neither remember Kanshi Ram nor Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. When their government is gone, they remember the PDA and start organizing seminars of our saints and gurus.
Mayawati said that the SP not only betrayed Kanshi Ram’s party during his lifetime and continuously tried to weaken his movement in Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, the BSP government, by granting district headquarters status to Kasganj, changed the name of the new district to Kanshi Ram Nagar due to casteist thinking and political hatred. Furthermore, most of the other universities, colleges, hospitals, and other institutions named after Kanshi Ram were also renamed after the SP government came to power. If this is not their blatant anti-Dalit tactics, character, and face, then what is it?
She said that the SP and Congress’s occasional invocation of Kanshi Ram for narrow political reasons and vote-grabbing is purely a show and an attempt at deception. People must be vigilant and cautious of such misguided and narrow-minded parties like the SP and Congress.
Expressing gratitude to the current BJP government, Mayawati said that the BJP has spent money on the maintenance of memorials dedicated to great personalities. The government has renovated the rally site. “We thank the UP government for this,” she said.
Overwhelmed by the large turnout, the BSP chief declared that the turnout had broken records. A large number of workers had arrived in Lucknow. Supporters from Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand also attended the rally.
She also expressed gratitude to the public, saying they had come on their own, not for daily wages. The BSP chief stated that the BSP’s return to power is the only path to the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward classes, and low-income groups.ย
