Lucknow, 06 December: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has called the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list by the Election Commission very important. She has appealed that the Bahujan Samaj should participate enthusiastically in it with awareness.
On the death anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Mayawati paid tribute by garlanding his portrait at her residence in Delhi on Saturday. On this occasion, she expressed gratitude to the people of Uttar Pradesh in particular for the tributes paid by the followers of Baba Saheb across the country.
Mayawati questioned the government and asked when will the good days of the Bahujans come. She said that on special occasions like Independence Day, Republic Day, and the birth and death anniversaries of the architect of the Constitution, Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the question that continues to linger in minds is when will the country’s millions of Bahujans experience “good days filled with self-respect and self-esteem,” based on the Constitution’s sacred humanitarian and welfare objectives, arrive. As the country’s only Ambedkarite party, the BSP is concerned about why even slightly better days have not yet arrived for the millions of exploited, oppressed Dalits and Other Backward Classes, for whom Baba Saheb fought tirelessly throughout his life and enacted laws for their welfare and upliftment, granting them numerous rights in the Constitution.
Mayawati alleged that even today, political machinations are being used to keep the Bahujan community away from the center of power. She said that to combat this, Bahujans must recognize the power of their vote and protect it wholeheartedly. In this sequence, he described the special intensive revision of the voter list as very important and appealed to the Bahujan Samaj to participate in it with awareness.
