Lucknow, July 25: Monsoon became active in Uttar Pradesh once again due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. The series of rains that started from eastern Uttar Pradesh on Friday reached western Uttar Pradesh by evening. While there was light rain in some districts, there was rain with strong winds in Ballia, Jaunpur and the capital Lucknow as well as Moradabad in the center and west.
Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural Technology University, said on Friday that due to sea activities, monsoon has become active again across Uttar Pradesh. Today the direction of the winds was easterly due to which rain started from eastern Uttar Pradesh and by afternoon it started raining till Ayodhya, Barabanki and Lucknow. In the second half, there was rain with strong winds in the districts including central region Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Farrukhabad and Hardoi.
Pandey further told that along with this, lightning was also flashing. Due to humidity, there was heavy rain at some places and moderate rain at other places. But the effect of this rain was seen on Bareilly, Agra, Hapur, Moradabad and Meerut districts of eastern to western Uttar Pradesh. During this time, the movement of black clouds in the sky remained fast and while lightning kept flashing, trees were damaged due to strong winds. People also had to face problems due to waterlogging in Ballia, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Ayodhya of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Kanpur, Etawah and Lucknow of central region.
The meteorologist said that light to moderate rain may occur at local level with strong winds, thunder and lightning till July 30. In such a situation, a rain alert has been issued in all 75 districts. There is a possibility of downpour in 12 districts of Purvanchal.
As soon as the weather suddenly changed in Prayagraj after noon, heavy rain started with thunder. People got relief from the humid heat due to the rain. Due to waterlogging on the roads during the rain, there was a traffic jam for some time. However, after the rain stopped, the vehicular movement has started.
The monsoon which became active from eastern Uttar Pradesh on Friday reached Bundelkhand as well. It rained in Hamirpur, Banda, Lalitpur, Chitrakoot, Mahoba and Jhansi. The mountain rivers are overflowing due to the rain here.
