Mahoba, December 24: The Lekhpal advised a man suffering from a house fire incident in Mahoba district to die under a truck along with his motorcycle to receive more ex gratia, which would have earned him up to five lakh rupees. Upon hearing this, the victim was stunned and went silent.

The audio of the incident where a Lekhpal displayed insensitivity and made a ridiculous statement is going viral on the internet. Everyone is shocked by the inhumane advice given by the Lekhpal.

The entire incident takes place in Chandauli village, in the Charkhari tehsil area of โ€‹โ€‹the district. Villager Shiv Prasad lives in the village with his wife, Phuliya, and their four sons. Jaipal, Brijendra, Bhupendra, and Raghavendra all work in brick kilns.

Raghavendra explained that he and his brothers were at a brick kiln in the city. His parents were alone at home. On December 1, a fire broke out in his home, destroying property worth lakhs of rupees belonging to his brother Bhupendra and uncle Chandrapal. The revenue officer who arrived on the scene prepared a report of the loss for three lakh rupees.

Raghavendra explained that when he requested a higher compensation over the phone, the accountant said, “You can do whatever you want.” After pleading with him, the revenue officer said something that left him speechless. To receive higher compensation, the accountant advised him to get hit by a truck while riding his motorcycle, which would then result in a compensation of five lakh rupees upon his death.

On Wednesday, Charkhari Tehsildar R.N. Mishra stated that a report of four thousand rupees had been sent for the victim’s partial loss. The viral audio recording of the Lekhpal statement about receiving higher compensation is being investigated. Following the investigation, action will be taken as per the rules.
