Last rites of 10 students, killed during violent protest in Nepal, performed

Kathmandu, September 16: The last rites of ten students who lost their lives during the violent protests of September 8 and 9 in Nepal were performed on Tuesday. Of these, nine bodies were kept at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajganj and one at Patan Hospital.

A day earlier on Monday, the interim government of Nepal had decided to officially give the status of martyrs to those killed during the Gen-Z movement. The government has announced a day of national mourning and public holiday in their honor. A funeral procession was taken out today to honor the sacrifice of the dead students, which started from the Teaching Hospital and the funeral procession was taken around the ring road before the cremation.

According to Tribhuvan University spokesperson Kali Prasad Rozyara, the bodies of the deceased living outside Kathmandu have been sent to their destination. Today the last rites of 10 dead people from Kathmandu are being performed.
