Kushinagar Airport gets IFR license, now flights can operate at night or restricted visibility

Kushinagar, July 22: The Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA) has upgraded Kushinagar Airport and declared it an IFR category airport. On Tuesday, the DGCA has issued an Instrument Flying Rules (IFR) license for this airport. Now this airport has moved from Visual Flying Rules (VFR) category to Instrument Flying Rules (IFR) category. With this, flights will be possible from here during day and night.

The airport administration has said that regular flights will start from the winter season.

Actually, the process was going on for two years to give the IFR category license to Kushinagar Airport. For this, other navigational systems including Doppler Very Omni Range (DVOR), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) and Non Banded Navigation (NBN) have been installed at the airport. After which the DGCA inspection aircraft flew a dozen times in three days and tested the navigational system. The DGCA inspected on June 10 under the leadership of Assistant Director Ved Prakash Prajapati and submitted its final report to the DGCA. On the basis of this report, IFR license has been issued to Kushinagar Airport.

In this regard, Airport Director Pranesh Rai said that the license upgrade will improve connectivity, open new opportunities and speed up the progress of the airport. Regular flights can start from the winter season.
