New Delhi, November 20: Opposing the petition of Karisma Kapoor’s children demanding a share in Sunjay Kapur’s property worth ₹ 30 thousand crores, Priya Kapoor has said that there is nothing suspicious in Sanjay Kapoor’s will and this is a long-standing tradition of the family.

Justice Jyoti Singh’s bench will continue hearing the case tomorrow i.e. on November 21 as well.

During the hearing, Priya Kapur’s lawyer Rajiv Nayyar said that the Kapoor family has been transferring property through wills for a long time. He said that Priya Kapoor’s father-in-law had also made a will. This is a healthy tradition.

Nayyar said that it is wrong for Karisma Kapoor to doubt the witnesses that they were given money for this. The witnesses are employees and they still are employees.

Earlier, Karisma Kapoor’s children had stated that Sunjay Kapur’s alleged ‘will’ was fraudulent because Sanjay Kapoor did not use the female pronoun (she) for himself.

During the hearing, Mahesh Jethmalani, the lawyer representing Karisma Kapoor’s children, stated that the will-maker used “she” to describe himself, and that Sunjay Kapur could not have done so. No reason was even given for using “she.” Jethmalani noted that the will uses “she” and “her” four times. Jethmalani also noted that Priya Kapur, the stepmother of the petitioner children, remained silent on the question of who drafted the will.

During the hearing on October 13, Karisma Kapoor’s children questioned the authenticity of Sunjay Kapur’s alleged will.

Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor’s children, stated that Sanjay Kapoor’s alleged will contained numerous flaws that Sanjay Kapoor could not have made. How could Sanjay Kapoor have misspelled his daughter’s address? The will misspells Sanjay Kapoor’s son’s name in several places. The will itself degrades Sunjay Kapur’s dignity. Karisma Kapoor’s children stated that Sanjay Kapoor had a very good relationship with Samaira and Kiaan Raj.

Previously, the High Court directed Priya Kapoor to submit a complete statement of Sanjay Kapoor’s assets. Karisma Kapoor, as the guardian of her two children, filed a petition in the High Court.

The petition alleges that Sanjay Kapoor’s third wife, Priya Kapur, tampered with Sunjay Kapur’s will. The petition states that Priya Kapoor wants to control Sanjay Kapoor’s entire estate by tampering with his will. This is why Sanjay Kapoor’s will does not grant any rights to Karisma Kapoor’s children.

Sanjay Kapoor’s will is dated March 21, 2025. According to this will, Sanjay Kapoor’s entire estate will belong to Priya Kapoor.

The petition filed in the High Court states that Priya Kapur kept this will hidden for seven weeks after Sanjay Kapoor’s death. The will was revealed on July 30 during a family meeting.

Sunjay Kapur died on June 12 while playing polo in Windsor, UK. In the petition, Karisma Kapoor’s children stated that they had a very close relationship with Sanjay Kapoor and would often visit him during holidays. Sanjay Kapoor always assured his children of a better future and financial security.

In the petition, Karisma Kapoor’s children have demanded that they be declared first-class heirs to Sunjay Kapur and be granted the right to a fifth of Sunjay Kapur’s estate. The petition also seeks an interim freeze on Sanjay Kapoor’s personal assets until the petition is resolved.
