Kanpur, October 06: A man posing as a fake Flying Squad officer allegedly duped a victim of โ‚น 16 lakh in the name of getting a liquor contract. Even after a long time, when the victim neither got the contract nor the money, he filed a case against the accused in Chakeri police station. Police have arrested the fake accused IRS officer and started an interrogation.

Himanshu Saxena, a resident of Karmachari Nagar in Chakeri police station area, told that in 2023, he met Divyansh Srivastava, a resident of Shyam Nagar. Posing as an officer in the Flying Squad, he demanded Rs 16 lakh from him in the name of getting him a job in the department. I had given around Rs 10 lakh online and Rs 6 lakh in cash. After receiving the money, the accused, Divyans, sent me a fake allotment certificate for the liquor contract allotment from the Unnao Excise Department and an interview admit card for joining the post of Excise Inspector in the Excise Department by registered post in September 2024.

He then prepared and sent me fake and forged joining letters for the post of Excise Inspector in September 2023 and December 2024 by registered post. When I learned that the allotment letter, call letter, and joining letter sent by him were fake and forged, I asked Divyans to return my money, but he refused to return it and began threatening me with abusive language. Thus, Divyans, posing as a Deputy Commissioner, fraudulently obtained โ‚น16 lakh by presenting forged documents in the name of securing a job and contract.

ACP Chakeri Abhishek Pandey stated on Monday that the accused is being interrogated. A car with “Government of India” written on it has also been recovered from the accused. A case has been registered based on the victim’s complaint. Further legal action is being taken.
