Kanpur, September 12: The Income Tax Department’s action on the establishments of leather industry Mirza International in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh continued on the second day on Friday. On Thursday, teams of about 150 officers and employees of Income Tax (IT) started raiding 50 locations simultaneously.
The teams are scrutinizing documents in Jajmau, Kothi located on VIP Mall Road and two tanneries in Unnao. Apart from this, raids are also being conducted simultaneously in Noida, Delhi and Uttarakhand. This action is being taken to investigate the financial transactions and tax related irregularities of the company.
During the raid, a large amount of fake billing and bogus slips are being found. In this case, interrogation of the company’s MD Souza Mirza and Faraz Mirza and others is underway.
It is worth mentioning that the main branch of Mirza International is in Kanpur. Apart from this, they have factories and tanneries in 14 places across Uttar Pradesh. They also have offices in the capital Delhi and Noida. This institute produces footwear of big brands like Red Tape as well as other leather products.
Apart from this, their products are supplied not only in the country but also in more than two dozen countries across the seven seas.
