New Delhi, May 9: The Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has been postponed. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken this decision in view of the tension between India and Pakistan and the war-like situation on the border. A formal announcement is expected soon.

The decision came after the IPL decided to abandon the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals on Thursday midway through the first innings. Due to the closure of airports in Dharamsala and surrounding areas, players and support staff from Punjab and Delhi reached Delhi on Friday morning by a special train arranged by the IPL.

IPL 2025 has so far played 58 matches, including the canceled match in Dharamsala. 12 matches are yet to be played in the group stage, including Lucknow (2), Hyderabad, Ahmedabad (3), Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru (2), Mumbai, Jaipur, followed by the playoffs in Hyderabad and Kolkata. Now all these matches have been postponed indefinitely.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had earlier said that national interest is paramount for us. Any decision to hold further matches will be taken after the situation normalises and after discussions with the government.

Dhumal said, “We are reviewing the situation. We have not received any instructions from the government yet. This is the board’s own decision. We take any decision keeping in mind all logical thoughts and everyone’s interests.”
