Lucknow, December 21: The Anti-Corruption Team arrested an Inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe in Lucknow late Saturday night. Following the action, the accused Inspector has been suspended.

PGI Police Station in-charge Dhirendra Kumar Singh stated that the car of victim Shashank Kumar, a resident of Inayat Nagar, Ayodhya, was seized by the PGI Police Station. Following a court appeal for the car’s release, a report was requested from the PGI Police Station, which was being investigated by Inspector Amar Kumar. He was demanding a bribe from the victim in the name of probe.
SHO further added that upon receiving the complaint, the Anti-Corruption Team devised a plan and took action on the night of December 20. As per the plan, the complainant was sent to the police station with a chemical-coated note. As soon as the Inspector accepted the bribe, the team present outside apprehended him on the spot. During the investigation, the color of the water changed after washing hands, confirming the bribery.
He told that after his arrest, the accused inspector was taken to Gosaiganj police station, where legal action was taken against him. The accused, 2023 batch inspector Amar Kumar, is originally a resident of Rampur Factory, Deoria district. Taking the matter seriously, the police department has suspended the inspector with immediate effect. A departmental inquiry is underway against him.
