New Delhi, April 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday participated in the Yugam Summit held at Bharat Mandapam here. Many representatives from education, industry, academic institutions and innovation sector were also present in this conference. On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that India’s education system is being modernized according to the needs of the twenty-first century.
The Prime Minister said, “The future of any nation depends on its young generation. Therefore, it is necessary that we prepare our youth for the bright future of India. The education system has an important role in this direction.”
The Yugam Summit held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi is a strategic program. Its objective is to increase cooperation between the government, education world, industry and innovation ecosystem. Yugam means “confluence” in Sanskrit and it will make a significant contribution to India’s innovation journey.
During this, the Prime Minister informed that in the year 2013, the expenditure on research and development was Rs 60000 crore, which has now increased to more than 1.25 lakh crore. He described it as an important step towards strengthening India’s research ecosystem.
He said that the vision of “One Nation, One Digital Infrastructure” is being realized under the DIKSHA platform. Through this, students are being provided modern digital experience so that they can become competent according to the needs of the future.
The Prime Minister informed that under the new education policy, the National Curriculum Framework has been prepared and the publication of new textbooks from class 1 to 7 has been completed. An integrated education system is being created through initiatives like PM e-Vidya and DIKSHA platform.
During the conference, the Prime Minister launched several major projects like Superhub at IIT Kanpur and Bioscience Superhub at IIT Mumbai. A total of Rs 1,400 crore is being jointly invested by Wadhwani Foundation and government institutions for this initiative.
The aim of the Pair Summit is to encourage private investment in India’s innovation ecosystem and move towards building an Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
