New Delhi, August 31: India’s leading social organization Educate Girls has been honored with the 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Award.
This was announced on Sunday. This honor will be formally given on November 7, 2025 at the 67th Ramon Magsaysay Award Ceremony organized at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
Educate Girls founder Safina Hussain said on Sunday that this award has been given to Educate Girls for challenging society’s irrational cultural notions about the education of girls and young women, freeing them from illiteracy and giving them skills, courage and self-reliance.
She said that Educate Girls organization has now become a part of that glorious line, which includes Satyajit Ray, M.S. Subbulakshmi, Kiran Bedi, Vinoba Bhave, Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa and Oscar winner Hayao Miyazaki are among the world-renowned personalities who have been honoured by the event.
Safina Hussain said that this achievement is in the name of our team, girl volunteers, partners, supporters and most of all the girls who have regained their greatest power, education. In the coming ten years, Educate Girls aims to reach more than one crore learners. There are now plans to share this model of India in other parts of the world as well, so that every girl can get her right to education. We are convinced that when a girl studies, its impact is not limited to her life only, she takes the whole society forward along with her.

This honour is a proof that when the government, corporates, donors and the community work together, deep social and structural challenges can be changed. Established in 2007, Educate Girls has reached more than 30,000 villages till date. With the help of more than 55,000 community volunteers, the organization has inspired more than 20 lakh children to get education and improved the education of more than 24 lakh children.
