IMD predicts torrential rain across the country for the next 5 days

New Delhi, June 22: The heavy rain warning has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the Meteorological Department, between June 22 and 26, downpour may occur in North-West India, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa of the country. The special thing is that in some states, there may be extremely heavy rains in the next few days.

If you are also planning to visit the mountains or any other cold place, troubled by the humid heat of June, then be careful. The weather has now changed. With the arrival of monsoon in India, there is a possibility of heavy rains in most parts of the country for the next few days.

According to the IMD bulletin, on June 22, some parts of Gujarat region, while on June 23 and 24, many parts of Madhya Pradesh may receive more than 20 cm of rain. At the same time, there is a possibility of continuous heavy rain in Northeast India for the next three days and after that there is a possibility of heavy rain for the next four days.

In central India, areas like Western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh may receive extremely heavy rainfall on 23 and 24 June. There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds in Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during 22 to 27 June. Winds may blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in many areas, which may affect services like traffic and electricity.

Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the western parts of the country, especially in Gujarat, Konkan and Goa between 22 and 28 June. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected at many places in Gujarat on 22 June. During this time, waterlogging and flood-like situation may occur in western coastal areas including Mumbai.

Talking about North-West India, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in East Rajasthan on 23rd June. Apart from this, heavy rains are also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for the next 5 to 7 days. Due to lightning and strong winds, precautionary vigilance is needed in these areas.

Heavy rains will continue in Northeast India as well. Heavy rain warnings have been issued in Assam and Meghalaya on 22nd and 23rd June, in Arunachal Pradesh on 23rd and 24th, while on 23rd June itself, heavy rain warnings have been issued in Nagaland and Manipur. The possibility of landslides and rising water levels of rivers in hilly and forested areas cannot be ruled out.

The states of South India will also not remain untouched by this period of rain. Heavy rains may occur at many places in Kerala, Karnataka and coastal parts of Maharashtra between June 22 and 28. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and winds at the speed of 40 to 60 kmph in Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Another important warning given by the Meteorological Department is that hot and humid weather will prevail in some areas of Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema between June 22 and 24, which can cause humidity and discomfort.

In such a situation, if you are planning a trip or work in an open area, then you need to be extra cautious for the next few days. Heavy rains can cause problems like traffic jams, waterlogging, falling of trees, power problems and disruption in communication services. It will be better if tourists especially going to hilly areas leave their homes only after knowing the weather conditions.
