I&B Ministry asks to remove all Pakistani contents from OTT platforms

New Delhi, May 8: India has issued instructions to immediately stop Pakistani web series, digital content running on OTT platform while doing a digital strike on Pakistan. It has been said that in the national interest, all kinds of Pakistani content should be removed from the OTT platform. This decision has been taken in view of national security.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) said in a directive issued on Thursday that government and non-government elements based in Pakistan have been involved in many terrorist attacks in India. Recently, 26 people were killed and many others were injured in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms operating in India are advised to block web-series, movies, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content originating from Pakistan with immediate effect, even if they are available on a subscription-based model.

Citing the code of conduct under the Information Technology Rules, 2021, the ministry said that discretion and national interest should be given paramount importance before displaying any content. Content that affects the sovereignty and integrity of India and which endangers the security of the state should be avoided from being shown on social media.
