Hurt by Rahul Gandhi’s ‘traitor’ remark on Union Minister Bittu, Sikh leaders burn effigy of LoP in Lucknow

Lucknow 04 February: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Uttar Pradesh protested by burning the effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in various districts of the state including the capital Lucknow on Wednesday.

The BJP Sikh leaders and workers demonstrated against Congress leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi for insulting Union Minister Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu. Slogans like shame on Rahul Gandhi, stop insulting Sikhs were also raised.

Under the leadership of BJP leader and General Secretary of Guru Govind Singh Seva Samiti Sardar Parvinder Singh, the Sikh community burnt the effigy of Rahul Gandhi at Khalsa Chowk in Alambagh of the capital Lucknow and called the insult of Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu as an insult to the Sikh community. Parvinder Singh said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s calling Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu ‘a traitor’ at the Makar gate of the Parliament has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community, and the entire Sikh community is outraged. The Sikh community demands Rahul Gandhi’s resignation.

He added that the Congress party’s mindset has always been anti-Sikh. Congress orchestrated the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. In 1984, for the first time in Indian history, those in power orchestrated riots and brutally murdered Sikhs. Congress has not yet broken free from this anti-Sikh mindset. He added that many leaders in the country change parties based on their ideologies. However, Rahul Gandhi did not use derogatory words against any leader. The Congress leader deliberately insulted a Sikh leader to insult the entire Sikh community.

A large number of people from the Sikh community participated in the protest, prominent among them were Sardar Rajendra Singh Bagga, Sardar Dilpreet Singh (DP), Sardar Lakhwinder Singh, Sardar Satbir Singh Anand, Sardar Jaskaran Singh, Ravinder Pal Singh, Ranveer Singh Kalsi, Sardar Harpreet Singh, Surendra Pal Singh, Tejpal Singh Bagga, Harish Kohli, Gurpreet Singh Chadha and Harpreet Singh Prince.
