four Naxalites including three women killed in Maharashtra

Narayanpur, 27 August: Four Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces on Wednesday in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district bordering Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. These include three women and one man.

Gadchiroli’s Additional Superintendent of Police M. Ramesh confirmed the encounter. He said that the police had received information about the Naxalites of Gatta Dalam, Company Number 10 and Gadchiroli Division hiding in Koparshi forest area (Gadchiroli-Narayanpur border). After this, C-60 unit of Gadchiroli Police and CRPF’s QRT team were dispatched for the search operation.

He said that the security forces reached that area and were conducting a search operation amid bad weather. Meanwhile, the Naxalites started firing. The security forces also retaliated. During this time, intermittent firing continued from both sides for about 8 hours. Three women and one male Naxalite were killed in this encounter. The killed Naxalites are being identified. After the search, 4 weapons including SLR, INSAS and 303 rifle have been recovered from the spot. At present, the search operation is underway in the area to find the remaining Naxalites.
