Guwahati, June 29: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again discussed Assam in the “Mann Ki Baat” program on Sunday and especially highlighted the positive changes taking place in the Bodoland region.

He described the football competition held in Bodoland as a ‘festival of unity and hope’ and praised the energy and confidence of the youth.

The Prime Minister said, “Today, through the CEM Cup in Bodoland, football is not just a game, but has become a symbol of social solidarity and hope. More than 3,700 teams and about 70,000 participants have participated in this competition. Every goal, every applause infuses a new energy. Imagine the rays of the sun touching the mountains, excited players running in the field and the audience shouting slogans enthusiastically, this is not just a game, but a confluence of hopes.”

The Prime Minister further said, “The identity of this region, which was once plagued by violence, is now changing through sports. Today Bodoland is emerging with a new identity. The youth have the courage of self-reliance, new dreams in their eyes. Through football, many talents are reaching the national level, like Holicharan Narzari, Durga Bodo, Apurb Narzari and Manbir Basumatari. Where there was once struggle, now there is inspiration.”

The Prime Minister said that many of these players worked hard despite limited resources, practiced in difficult conditions and today they have become an inspiration for the youth across the country. He appealed to the citizens that if we have to increase our potential, then fitness and health must be given priority first.
