Fire breaks out in a five-storey building in Kanpur, husband-wife, 3 daughters die

Kanpur, May 05; A husband-wife and their three daughters died in a fire that broke out in a five-storey building on Sunday night in Gandhinagar area of โ€‹โ€‹Chaman Ganj police station area. All the bodies have been recovered after about eight hours of hard work. There is a shoe factory on the first and second floors of this building. Families live on the third and fourth floors.

Eyewitnesses said that a sudden fire broke out in a shoe factory on the lower floor of the building between 8:30 and 9 pm on Sunday night. The fire spread from the second floor to the fourth floor in no time. Due to the presence of highly flammable material in the factory, the fire took a terrible form. Police and fire brigade personnel who arrived on the information rescued many people trapped in the building safely.

As per the people present there told that meanwhile, three loud explosions occurred in a span of 10 minutes, due to which the fire started blazing even more intensely. To extinguish the fire, continuous shower of water was carried out through a hydraulic machine. Seeing that the fire was not getting extinguished, finally the SDRF team had to be called from Lucknow. After a lot of hard work by about 20 fire engines, 70 fire fighters and police personnel, after about eight hours, the bodies of all the family members Mohammad Danish (45), Nazmi Saba (42), daughters Sara (15), Simra (12) and seven-year-old Inayat were recovered.

ADCP Central Rajesh Kumar Srivastava said that the fire broke out due to short circuit in the lower floor of the five-storey building. There was a shoe factory on the first and second floors, so the fire took a terrible form. Five people of the same family were burnt alive in the incident. All the bodies have been sent to the district hospital and further legal action is being taken.
