New Delhi, December 12: The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting ( I&B) L. Murugan said on Friday that the Central Government is closely monitoring the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Indian films. AI tools in the Indian film industry are being monitored but no regulatory action is proposed.
Murugan, responding to a question from YSR Congress Party member S. Niranjan Reddy in the Rajya Sabha, said that the government is aware of the use of AI tools in film and media script writing, including dialogue, story and screenplay development, in the Indian film industry.
Currently, there is no proposal under consideration to regulate the use of AI in film production and screenplay writing through an amendment to the Cinematograph Act, 1952.
