Barabanki, November 4: At least eight people travelling in a car died in a head-on collision between a truck and a car near Kutlupur village under Deva police station late Monday night in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. The jeweler’s entire family was wiped out in this accident.

The District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and the Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya inspected the spot.
The CO Jagat Ram Kanaujia said that Pradeep Rastogi of Fatehpur had booked a car with his entire family and had gone to Bithoor to take a bath in the Ganga. While returning, their car was hit by a truck near Kutlupur village under Deva police station on the Fatehpur-Barabanki road at around 12 o’clock late on Monday night. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was shattered, and the 14-foot-long vehicle was reduced to about 7 feet. The car’s occupants, Fatehpur resident Pradeep Rastogi (55), his wife Madhuri Rastogi (52), son Nitin Rastogi (35), driver Shrikant (40), Naimish (20), and Balaji (55), died on the spot. Two others were critically injured and taken to the Lucknow Trauma Center, but Indra Kumar and Vishnu Shukla also succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Both worked at Pradeep Rastogi’s gold and silver shop. The incident wiped out Pradeep’s entire family, leaving the area in mourning.
The Superintendent of Police stated that preliminary investigations indicate speeding as the primary cause of the accident.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Awadhesh Kumar Yadav stated that all bodies will be handed over to their families after post-mortem. The administration has assured the families of the deceased of all possible assistance.
