Gautam Buddha Nagar, 08 September: A case of illegal Islamic conversion of a married woman has come to light on Monday in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. On the complaint of the victim’s husband and relatives, the police have registered a case against five persons and started investigation, police informed.
Police station Phase Three in-charge Dhruv Bhushan Dubey said that Shivam Sharma’s wife was missing from Gadhvi Chaukhandi village since last May. Shivam had filed a writ in the High Court for recovery of his wife. Police team under Chaukhandi outpost in-charge Yogendra Singh recently recovered the victim’s missing wife from Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and brought her to the district.
During interrogation, the woman told that she has married Raja alias Ehsan, originally a resident of Bihar, who works in a factory in Noida and she is learning Sharia law from Ehsan and his family. Ehsan’s family also showed the police a photocopy of the Nikahnama. On examining it, it was found that accused Ehsan’s father Bismillah Mian, mother Anisha Begum and brother Irshad had converted the woman’s religion as part of a conspiracy and named her Khushboo Khatoon.
The woman’s father’s name in the Nikahnama is also fake. Accused Ehsan got the woman converted to Islam illegally by calling his mother Anisha Begum Priya Sharma’s aunt and his brother Priya Sharma’s brother.
During investigation, the police found that he had married the woman by deceiving her. At the same time, the victim woman has not yet divorced her husband Shivam Sharma. The couple has a six-year-old son.
The police station in-charge said that on the complaint of the sub-inspector, action is being taken by registering a case under serious sections against Raja alias Ehsan Miyan, Irshad, Bismillah, Anisha Begum and Qazi Mohammad Azimuddin.
