New Delhi, September 16 (HS). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh and actor Sonu Sood for questioning in a money laundering case related to alleged illegal online betting apps. The
Central probe agency has summoned Robin Uthappa on September 22, Yuvraj Singh on September 23, while Sonu Sood on September 24 the next day for questioning during the next week under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) in a case related to online betting app 1xBet.
In the last few weeks, the ED has questioned former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan as part of the investigation into the case. Former TMC MP and actress Mimi Chakraborty’s statement has also been recorded in the case on Monday.
Apart from this, Bengali actor Ankush Hazra appeared before the ED today on the scheduled summons in this case, while 1xBet’s India brand ambassador and actress Urvashi Rautela has not yet appeared on the date given on Tuesday.
This investigation of the central investigating agency is related to alleged illegal betting apps, which are said to have defrauded crores of rupees from many people and investors. The company’s website and app are available in 70 languages.
