Kanpur, August 18: Amid row over “live-in relationship” concept in India for the past few days, a woman in live-in relationship for the last five months committed suicide by hanging herself after posting on social media after a dispute with her husband under Naubasta police station in Kanpur, police said.
Police reached the spot after receiving the information and sent the body for post-mortem and started investigating.
Anjali Gautam (28), living under Sachendi police station area, had a love marriage with Akash Gautam, a resident of Naubasta, about 9 years ago. She also had two children from him. The deceased’s family members said that after a dispute with her husband about a year ago, she started living separately from her husband. Meanwhile, she met auto driver Akash Gupta and both started living in a rented house. Here also, both of them did not get along, due to which she took this suicidal step.
When Anjali’s room door did not open for a long time in the morning, the neighbours peeped through the window and saw Anjali’s body hanging from a noose. Her lover Akash had fled from the spot. The police was informed about the incident immediately. The police have sent the body for postmortem and started investigating the case.
The deceased’s elder sister Archana said that because she married of her own free will, her family members did not care about her. After a dispute with her husband, she got separated but the children lived with her husband. For some months, she was living in a live-in relationship with an auto driver.
Naubasta police station in-charge Sharad Tilara said that the deceased’s body has been sent for postmortem and further legal action is being taken.
