The clash between two big films at the box office will surely excite the moviegoers. From social media to outside theatres, only one question was echoing everywhere: which film won the first day, Dhanush’s ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ or Vijay Varma’s ‘Gustakh Ishq’? Now the initial box office reports are out and the picture has become quite clear.
‘Tere Ishq Mein’ makes a strong entry
Dhanush and Kriti Sanon starrer ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ has made a strong start at the box office upon its release. Directed by Aanand L. Rai, this romantic drama film has received a strong response from the audience. According to a report in Sacnilk, the film opened with a strong opening of ₹16.5 crore on its first day. With this earning, it has become the second biggest romantic opener of 2025 after ‘Saiyaara’.
As of now, TIM has collected around ₹ 7.68 crore on Saturday for all languages minting the total amount ₹ 23.68 crore.
A Glimpse of the Story
The story revolves around Shankar (Dhanush), an angry, carefree young man whose world changes when he falls in love with college student Mukti (Kriti Sanon). Romance blossoms, but Mukti suddenly distances herself from him and decides to marry someone else, and this is where the story takes a sharp turn. What follows is a series of emotions, pain, and intense drama.
Released alongside Dhanush’s film, Vijay Varma’s “Gustakh Ishq” failed to make it to the box office on its first day. Audience response was mixed, but the film lagged far behind in terms of earnings. The film earned only ₹50 lakh on its first day, a very low figure considering its budget and star cast. Clearly, the direct clash with “Tere Ishq Mein” proved to be a costly decision for the makers.. Hopefully, weekend collections will see some improvement.
Story and Cast of ‘Gustakh Ishq’
The film stars Vijay Varma along with Fatima Sana Shaikh, Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi in lead roles. Directed by Vibhu Puri, the film marks the debut of fashion designer Manish Malhotra as a producer.
The story revolves around Vijay’s character’s struggle to save a printing press in Old Delhi. During this time, he becomes a disciple of Naseeruddin Shah’s character and falls in love with his daughter.
