Deoria BSA Shalini Srivastava suspended in teacher suicide case

Deoria, February 27: Acting on the District Magistrate’s February 23 report in the teacher suicide case, the Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Deoria BSA Shalini Srivastava with immediate effect and ordered departmental disciplinary proceedings against her.

Major administrative action has been taken on the recommendation of District Magistrate Divya Mittal in the highly controversial teacher Krishna Mohan Singh suicide case in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.

The order issued by Basic Education Section-1 states that the allegations of laxity in complying with the High Court’s order and the failure to take effective action for almost a year have been found to be prima facie true. The government has considered this to be serious indifference and negligence in discharging official duties, classifying it as misconduct.

According to the government order (GO), Shalini Srivastava has been suspended under Rule 4 of the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1999, and a departmental inquiry has been initiated under Rule 7. To ensure the impartiality of the investigation, the Joint Director of Education, Gorakhpur Division, has been designated as the investigating officer (IO).

It is noteworthy that a named case has already been registered at Gulharia police station based on the complaint of the family members. Based on the report of the high-level inquiry committee formed on the instructions of the District Magistrate (DM), the accused desk assistant has already been suspended.

The government has also issued an order that, until a regular appointment is made to the vacant post of District Basic Education Officer, Deoria, the Principal, DIET (Deoria), will be given the additional charge of District Basic Education Officer, Deoria, in addition to her current post, effective immediately until further orders. To ensure no disruption in academic and administrative work, the Principal will be given the additional charge of District Basic Education Officer, Deoria.
