Dalit student dies after being beaten up by the local goons in Noida, CM Yogi assures for justice

Gautam Buddha Nagar, October 24: A Dalit student Aniket, resident of the town of Rabupura in the Rabupura police station area of the Gautam Buddha Nagar, has died after being assaulted by the local goons while he was celebrating a birthday party at a pond, police said.

The Noida police apprised that the deceased’s uncle was also beaten up and was seriously injured. Thousands of people, enraged by this incident, reached the road and blocked it.

Senior police officers and the Jewar MLA arrived at the scene. The MLA reassured the family of the deceased and arranged for them to speak to the Chief Minister Yogi after which the people lifted the blockade after receiving assurances of strict action against the accused.

Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh’s media in-charge stated that Mamachand had filed a report at the police station on October 17, stating that he belonged to the Dalit community. According to him, his younger brother, Sumit, and his nephew, Aniket (18), had gone to Syed Pond on the night of October 15 to attend a birthday party. While they were celebrating, a young man named Asif arrived and, upon seeing them, left. He then alerted others, and Yuvraj, Jeetu, Rachit, Bharat, Ankit, Pawan, Sunil, and 10-12 unidentified men arrived at the scene armed with sticks and iron rods. They abused Sumit and Aniket, using casteist slurs, and said, “We will show you your place. Why are you partying at the pond?” According to the victim, they severely beat them both.

Aniket fell unconscious and was found lying in the bushes, near death. According to the victim, Sumit suffered multiple head injuries. He reported that after an hour of searching, Aniket was found lying in the bushes. He was admitted to Sharda Hospital for treatment, where he was on a ventilator. From there, due to his deteriorating condition, he was referred to Arvindo Hospital in Delhi. He died there on Friday during treatment.

The victim also alleges that the miscreants had snatched Aniket’s iPhone and gold chain. According to the victim, a few days earlier, the miscreants had also assaulted Aniket and threatened to kill him.

He stated that as soon as news of Aniket’s death reached the town of Rabupura, people were into deep anger. A large number of people gathered at the scene. Senior police officers also arrived after receiving information about the incident and pacified the people.

He stated that Mamachand had filed a report regarding this incident at the police station on October 17th. Police had previously arrested Yuvraj and Jitu, who were involved in the incident. Police are searching for other accused.

Meanwhile, after receiving information about Aniket’s death and the widespread resentment among the people in the town of Rabupura, Jewar MLA Thakur Dhirendra Singh also reached the spot. He spoke to the family members of the deceased and assured them for all help. The MLA also spoke to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about the deceased’s family’s action. The Chief Minister assured them that strictest action would be taken against the criminals. After this, the family members opened the blockade and the police started their other legal procedures.
