Sukma, May 16: The jawans of the 228th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) posted in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh gave a final farewell to their brave four-legged war warrior K-9 squad member ‘Rolo’ with full military honours on Friday.
Two-year-old Rolo died on April 27, 2025 due to anaphylactic shock, which came from being stung by about 200 bees. CRPF jawans have given the last rites to the brave dog Rolo by giving him a guard of honour. The above information has been given by the 228th battalion of CRPF today on Friday through pictures and videos.
CRPF Director General GP Singh said that even though K-9 Rolo is no longer in this world, his bravery, loyalty and sacrifice will always be remembered with respect. He was not only a search dog, but also a true soldier and loyal companion. He has announced to honour him posthumously.
It is noteworthy that the brave dog Rolo was returning home with a soldier after finishing his duty in the longest anti-Naxal operation ever conducted against the Naxalites for 24 days in the hill of Karregutta situated on the Telangana border in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. During this time, the bees attacked the soldier and Rolo. Despite the attack of the bees, his handler tried to save him, but Rolo could not be saved.
Rolo, a victim of bee stings, succumbed to anaphylactic shock and was declared dead on April 27. Rolo had participated in anti-Naxal operations with the soldiers many times during his service. Remembering his bravery and service, his last rites were performed in the camp of 228th battalion of CRPF with salute by CRPF soldiers.
