Varanasi, August 19: A case of illegal construction of Imambara on Municipal Corporation land in Durgakund area of Varanasi city of Uttar Pradesh has come to light. Some people have occupied about 240 square meters of land registered in Municipal Corporation’s Arazi number 2342 and have done construction work, informed Public Relations Office of the Municipal Corporation.
According to the office, after receiving the information, the Municipal Corporation team reached the spot on Monday and investigated. The probe confirmed that the Imambara has been constructed on the corporation’s land. When the corporation officials tried to barricade the occupied land, the people present on the spot protested and stopped the work. After this, seeing the possibility of the dispute increasing, the matter was reported to the ADM (City). ADM City instructed the Naib Tehsildar present on the spot not to let any dispute arise and asked the occupants to submit the records as proof of land ownership.
Municipal Corporation officials also instructed the concerned party to appear in the corporation office with the documents, but till late Monday evening no one appeared with the records.
The corporation administration says that the concerned land is clearly recorded in the records of the Municipal Corporation and it is a property owned by the corporation. The officials have started the process of informing the higher authorities about the entire matter for further action.
