CM Yogi presents ‘Shivling’ made of GI craft to PM Modi in Varanasi

Varanasi, August 02: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented an amazing Shivling set made of geographical indication (GI) registered Banaras Metal Reponse Craft to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who reached Kashi on Saturday in the month of Shravan.

In this craft, a wonderful coordination of three GI crafts of Kashi, including Metal Reponse Craft, Meenakari and Metal Casting Craft was seen.

GI Expert Padmashree Dr Rajnikant told that this special gift includes 18 inches high and 15 inches wide artwork decorated on a Meenakari stand. It contains Shivling in Argha, five hooded snake, Nandi, Prasad, Ganga water in Kalash, Trishul and Sandalwood Bhasm. This work has been created by metal craftsmen Anil Kasera, Raghunath Kasera and Meenakari artist Arun Kumar Verma after a week of continuous effort and GI. Prepared on the theme of Shravan month under the guidance of experts.

According to Dr Rajnikant, this artwork reflects the rich craft tradition of Kashi and the power of GI. On this occasion, the Prime Minister called for ‘Swadeshi and Local to Global’ to encourage weavers and craftsmen including Kashi’s silk and Bhadohi carpet. He called GI a legally local identity and gave the message of taking concrete steps for its protection and promotion. The artisan community expressed happiness over this honor.
