CM Yogi inaugurates, lays the foundation stone of 7 projs worth crores in KGMU

Lucknow, July 14: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 7 projects constructed at a cost of 941 crores in the King George Medical University (KGMU) campus in Lucknow.

On this occasion, he went to the ward and enquired about the health of the patients and interacted with the doctors and also discussed the plans for future health expansion.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi said that this is not just an institution, but a symbol of medical tradition of an era and inspiration of national service. In its glorious journey of 120 years, KGMU has created many milestones. This journey has not been ordinary. It guided the state and the country by fighting the pandemic of the last century to global tragedy like Covid-19.

Chief Minister Adityanath said that this institute remained a pioneer during the pandemic period, helped in expanding medical education and is now preparing for the future with technology. Today, when projects worth Rs 941 crore are coming to the ground, it is not just construction, but the beginning of a new era towards “Healthy Uttar Pradesh, Strong India”.

Chief Minister said that when the outbreak of Covid-19 started, KGMU was the first institute in the state where the facility of Covid testing was started. The testing of the first 100 Covid suspected patients started from here. With this bold and quick initiative, UP developed a strategy to combat the epidemic in time.

Yogi today inaugurated the Orthopedic Super Specialty Block and New Cardiology Wing here. He also laid the foundation stone of the five hundred bed Trauma Center, new building of General Surgery Department, Administrative Complex and Patient Utility Complex. Yogi said that this in itself is a big achievement for any medical institution. The start of projects at a cost of about one thousand crores simultaneously is a proof of how serious the double engine government is to make the health infrastructure of the state world class.

Yogi said that in the last 11 years, India has made progress in every field The state has made historic progress. The health sector is also not untouched by this. The number of institutions like AIIMS in the country, which were once very few, has now increased to 23. Uttar Pradesh is also not behind, the vision of 75 medical colleges in 75 districts is now becoming a reality.

Chief Minister said that in 2024 itself, MBBS studies have started in 17 new medical colleges, out of which 13 are government colleges.

Chief Minister informed that a satellite centre of KGMU is being set up in Balrampur. He said that now the time has come that metropolitan medical services should reach smaller cities. This will reduce pressure on health institutions based in Lucknow and patients will be able to get treatment locally.

Chief Minister informed about the initiative of Centre of Excellence focused on medical technology with IIT Kanpur, adding further, Yogi told that it is our effort that KGMU and SGPGI should do new research by joining this centre and make India self-reliant in health technology.

Chief Minister Yogi inaugurated the new cardiology wing at KGMU at a cost of 105 crores. At the same time, the 6-storey new building of the General Surgery Department, 7-storey Trauma Center expansion and Patient Utility Complex, Center for Orthopaedic Superspeciality, Diagnostic Lab and Patient Relative Accommodation Facility Block, New Administrative Building, New Guest House expansion were inaugurated and foundation stone was laid at a cost of Rs. 375 crore.

During this, Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak, Minister of State for Health and Medical Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Principal Secretary Medical Health Parthasarathy Sen Sharma, KGMU Vice Chancellor Prof Sonia Nityanand along with many dignitaries, officers and doctors associated with KGMU administration were present.
