Varanasi, December 2: During the inauguration ceremony of the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam held at Namo Ghat in the holy city of Varanasi on Tuesday evening, a commotion erupted when a drunk man breached the security cordon and approached Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was seated on the stage.
Meanwhile, commandos deployed for the Chief Minister’s security acted swiftly and immediately apprehended the man and removed him from the stage. Security was further tightened following the incident.
ACP Vidush Saxena stated that the arrested man has been identified as Joginder Gupta. Initial investigations revealed that he is mentally unstable and is undergoing treatment. Family members also confirmed that he is frequently under the influence of alcohol.
He stated that Joginder’s brother has been contacted. The youth is being questioned, and necessary legal action is being taken in the matter.
