Lucknow, December 10: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI), requesting a 14-day extension for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttar Pradesh. The Election Commission is expected to take a decision on this matter soon.

The UP CEO Navdeep Rinwa stated that a letter has been sent to the Election Commission of India to extend the SIR deadline by 14 days.

He expressed hope that the SIR deadline in the state will be extended by another 14 days. The reason for the extension is that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttar Pradesh has not yet been completed. The Commission had extended the SIR deadline for the second time, setting December 11 as the deadline.

Meanwhile, 2.91 crore voters are expected to be deleted in Uttar Pradesh during the SIR. In Uttar Pradesh, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list has completed digitizing 99.14 percent (124 million) of the 154.4 million voters. Of these, 29.1 million voters were found to be dead, transferred, absent, or duplicate.

This list will be provided to the Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of political parties and posted on the websites of the District Election Officers. Those found on this list will be added to the voter list after completing a counting form.

Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa stated that of these 29.1 million voters, 4.6 million are dead, 12.7 million are transferred, 237.0 million are duplicates, 847.3 million are absent, and 95.7 million are others.
