New Delhi, May 20: The Central Government has extended the tenure of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Kumar Deka by one more year. His service period was going to end next month.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (CCA) approved his tenure extension. An order has been issued in this regard. Tapan Deka, a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, has special experience of anti-terror operations in Kashmir. He has been working as Director since 2022. Deka has played many roles in the Intelligence Department.
IB is the country’s internal security and counter-intelligence agency. The job of the Intelligence Bureau is to monitor internal threats in the country and advise the government. IB plays an important role in maintaining India’s internal security and stability.
