Centre bans 25 OTT platforms broadcasting pornographic content

New Delhi, July 25: The Central Government has banned 25 OTT platforms that broadcast pornographic content. On July 23, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting directed to block the websites and apps of 25 OTT platforms that contain obscene and pornographic content.

According to the letter of instructions, this action was taken in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Department of Legal Affairs, industry bodies FICCI and CII, and experts in the field of women’s rights and child rights.

The blocked OTT platforms include Big Shot App, Desifilix, Boomx, NyonX, Navras Lite, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Show Hit, Jalwa App, Wow Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hit Prime, Fugi, Feno, Show X, Soul Talkies, Adda TV, Alt, Hot VIP, Halchal App, Mood X, Treefilix, Ullu, Mozfilix. to the ministry,

notifications have been issued to various intermediaries using the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and IT Rules, 2021 to ensure that access to the respective websites and apps is disabled.
