Case filed against four in suicide case in Basti

Basti, February 20: The Basti police station has filed a case against four people in connection with the death of a student, based on a complaint from the victim’s family, police said.

According to the police, a sixth class student in a village in the Lalganj police station area recently committed suicide by hanging herself. The victim submitted a complaint to the Inspector General of Police and Superintendent of Police on Friday. In the complaint, the woman stated that her husband and son live abroad, while she lives in the village with her daughter, who was a sixth-grade student.

It is alleged that the accused, Shaktiman, a resident of the same village, raped her daughter and filmed it. He repeatedly assaulted her through the video. On January 19, the student visited her relatives, where the accused also sexually assaulted her. The girl told her mother about the incident. The next day, the family members went to the accused’s house with a complaint. It is alleged that the accused, his mother, and friends Arvind and Mithun insulted and drove them away.

It was also claimed that the student, traumatized by this incident, committed suicide by hanging herself. The victim has filed a police complaint to secure justice for her daughter and to take action against the accused.

Taking the matter seriously, the police have initiated action by filing a case against the accused, Shaktiman, his mother, and their two friends based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family.
