New Delhi, November 10: A car exploded and caught fire near the Gauri Shankar Temple, located near the Red Fort Metro Station. The incident caused panic in the area. Upon receiving the information, several fire tender vehicles arrived at the scene and began efforts to control the fire, police said.

According to the fire department, the incident occurred at around 6:55 pm. The fire department received a call about an explosion and a vehicle fire. Acting immediately, the department dispatched four water tenders and a water bowser to the scene.
The operation was supervised by ADO C.L. Meena and STO Praveen. Duty Officer Manish Kumar was also informed of the incident.
According to the fire officer, several calls began coming in one after another at around 7:05 pm, following which two additional water tenders were dispatched. Firefighters brought the fire under control in time. Cooling operations are currently underway.
An eyewitness to the blast said, “The explosion was so powerful that nearby shops shook and glass shattered. People were terrified. Before we could understand anything, the car in which the blast occurred and the cars in its path became a ball of fire.”
