Business: Market Cap of 6 Top 10 Companies increases by over 63,000 Crores

New Delhi, February 22: Due to the buying and selling in the domestic stock market during the last trading week, the market cap of six of the country’s top 10 most valuable companies increased by over 63,000 crores. The Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and the State Bank of India (SBI) gained the most among these. Similarly, IT giant Infosys was the second-largest loser. On the other hand, the market cap of four companies in the top 10 declined by over 38,000 crores this week. Bharti Airtel suffered the biggest loss among these.

During this week’s trading, the market cap of Larsen & Toubro, State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Bajaj Finance, and Reliance Industries increased by 63,478.46 crores. On the other hand, the market cap of Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) declined by Rs 38,752.29 crore.

The Larsen & Toubro’s market cap increased by Rs 28,523.31 crore to reach Rs 6,02,552.24 crore during the trading period between February 16 and February 20. Similarly, the market cap of State Bank of India (SBI) increased by Rs 16,015.12 crore to reach Rs 11,22,581.56 crore. Apart from this, the market cap of HDFC Bank increased by Rs 9,617.56 crore to Rs 14,03,239.48 crore, the market cap of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) jumped by Rs 5,977.12 crore to Rs 5,52,203.92 crore, the market cap of Bajaj Finance increased by Rs 3,142.36 crore to Rs 6,40,387 crore and the market cap of Reliance Industries increased by Rs 202.99 crore to Rs 19,21,678.78 crore.

On the other hand, the market cap of Bharti Airtel decreased by Rs 15,338.66 crore to Rs 11,27,705.37 crore after the trading from Monday to Friday. Similarly, the market cap of ICICI Bank declined by โ‚น14,632.10 crore to โ‚น9,97,346.67 crore. Infosys’ market cap fell by โ‚น6,791.58 crore to โ‚น5,48,496.14 crore, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)’s market cap declined by โ‚น1,989.95 crore to โ‚น9,72,053.48 crore.

In terms of market cap, Reliance Industries remained the country’s largest market cap company with a market capitalization of Rs 19,21,678.78 crore. Following this, HDFC Bank (total market cap Rs 14,03,239.48 crore), Bharti Airtel (total market cap Rs 11,27,705.37 crore), State Bank of India (total market cap Rs 11,22,581.56 crore), ICICI Bank (total market cap Rs 9,97,346.67 crore), TCS (total market cap Rs 9,72,053.48 crore), Bajaj Finance (total market cap Rs 6,40,387 crore), Larsen & Toubro (total market cap Rs 6,02,552.24 crore), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) (total market cap Rs 5,52,203.92 crore) and Infosys (total market cap Rs 5,48,496.14 crore) remained at the second to tenth positions in the list of top 10 most valuable companies.
