Lucknow, December 30: A 50-year-old lai-channa (an Indian snack) seller found dead roadside at the Vikas Nagar police station area of โโLucknow on Tuesday morning, police said.
When informed, the police reached the spot and took the body into their custody and initiated necessary action.
Vikas Nagar police station in-charge, Alok Kumar Singh, said that at around 8:22 am today, information was received via Dial-112 that a man was lying unconscious on the side of Vikas Nagar Road. Upon receiving the information, the local police team immediately reached the spot, where a man, approximately 50 years old, was found lying unconscious on the roadside, with clear marks of injury on his head. The police team immediately rushed him to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
He stated that based on inquiries from nearby residents and local residents, the deceased was initially identified as Lala Ram Verma, son of Salikram, approximately 50 years old, a resident of Chandeshua village, Laharpur police station, Sitapur district. The deceased used to sell gram and lentils near the site.
The station in-charge stated that the deceased’s family has been informed of the incident. The Panchayatnama process has been completed to determine the actual cause of death and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further legal action will be taken as per the rules after receiving the post-mortem report.
