Kanpur, November 4: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Circle Officer) Rishikant Shukla, an aide of Kanpur’s famous lawyer Akhilesh Dubey. The investigation into his disproportionate assets has been handed over to the Vigilance.
According to the letter issued by the SIT, DSP Rishikant Shukla joined the police department in 1998 as a sub-inspector. After joining the job, he remained in Kanpur for more than 10 years. During this time, he and his family maintained a close relationship with Akhilesh Dubey. Akhilesh Dubey has formed a gang and is operating in a planned manner, this includes various cases like implicating people in false cases, extortion, land grabbing etc. He has good influence in the police, KDA and other departments.
During this period, DSP Rishikant Shukla amassed substantial benami assets in excess of his income and in the name of his family, amounting to โน100 crore (approximately $ 100 million). These include properties at 12 locations with a current market value of โน92 crore (approximately $100 million), and properties at three other locations for which records have not been found. He owns 11 shops in Arya Nagar, registered in the name of his neighbor, Devendra Dubey, who is also Rishikant Shukla’s benami property.
During his rise from Inspector to CO, Rishikant Shukla was stationed in Kanpur. He currently serves as Circle Officer, Bhogaon, in Mainpuri district. He is accused of collaborating with Akhilesh Dubey to run a construction company with a turnover of over โน100 crore (approximately $100 million). Kanpur police investigations have revealed that he possessed substantial and benami assets exceeding his income, amounting to approximately โน100 crore (approximately $100 million). CO Rishikant Shukla is also accused of aiding the jailed Akhilesh Dubey gang. Following the investigation into this matter, he was suspended on government orders.
Meanwhile, the Circle Officer has dismissed all allegations against him as baseless.
