Varanasi, May 12: Ambiya Bano, a Muslim woman of Bangladeshi origin raised in London, adopted Hindu religion on Monday amidst various religious rituals on the banks of the river Ganga in the religious city of Kashi.
Ambiya Bano has been given a new name Ambiya Mala. Ambiya, showing faith in ‘Sanatan Dharma’, also performed Pind Daan ritually for the salvation of her daughter who was killed in the womb. In view of the tension between India and Pakistan, this act of the woman is also getting a lot of appreciation on social media. Pind Daan at Dashashwamedh Ghat was performed by five Vedic Brahmins under the guidance of famous priests of Varanasi.
Dr Santosh Ojha, founder secretary of social organisation ‘Aagaman’ told that 49-year-old Ambiya Mala, who grew up in London, was a native of Srirampur, Sunamganj, Sihet, Bangladesh. She was married to Neville Bourne Junior, a Christian, in London. Naval Bourne had accepted the Muslim religion to marry Ambiya. After about a decade of marriage, his divorce from Naval also took place according to the Muslim tradition.
Ambiya told the journalists that for the last few years, her daughter, killed in womb, used to come to her in dreams and talked about her salvation. After this, she came to know about Kashi through all the media and searched for the social organization Aagaman and contacted them.
According to Mala, in Sanatan Dharma, happiness, peace and welfare of all are the main things.
