Bangladeshi citizen held in Varanasi

Varanasi, April 9: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UP ATS) arrested a Bangladeshi citizen from Baruipur area located at Sarnath Chowk late on Tuesday night. He was living in India for the last 15 years on the basis of fake documents. Jolly passport, Aadhaar, PAN card and other documents have been recovered from him. He has been identified as Hol Mong Sing Marma, a resident of Nayak Para Ruma in Bandarban district of Bangladesh, who was living in India under the name of Moong Fru Mog.

The Varanasi unit of UP-ATS had received information that a person named Mong Fru Mog is a Bangladeshi citizen and he is living illegally in Varanasi through fake documents. After confirming the information, the ATS team took action and arrested him and registered a case at Sarnath police station and handed him over to the local police.

Sarnath ACP Atul Anjan Tripathi told media persons that the accused is being questioned in detail and he will be produced in court today.

During interrogation, the accused told that he came to India illegally via Mizoram in the year 2010. Here, with the help of a gang, he got fake Indian passport, Aadhaar and PAN card made. After this, he reached Sarnath via Assam and Bihar and started working as a helper in a Buddhist temple. He got his Aadhaar card made at this address. After some time, he left the job of the temple and started working in a handicraft shop near Sarnath Museum at a monthly salary of Rs 15,000. In the year 2019, he became friends with a girl from a tourist group from Myanmar, which later turned into marriage. After marriage, he went to Myanmar and got married there. Currently his wife is living in Myanmar.
